Countries around the world have had female monarchs/presidents/prime ministers, elected or appointed.
But the US fails to even nominate a woman to head a major party to contest a general election?
What are your thoughts?

SCORE TO SETTLE? 14
The Guardian finally took down the draft update of their webpage.
They also have what looks like either a commentary or an editorial on the football match, but there's no byline so we are not sure which one it is.
It's titled 'England's victory a great lesson'.
But it is rife with errors in writing.
"No doubt, England had two reasons to be adamant of victory, the first being their eleventh place rating on the FIFA list..."; "Those who felt that the absence of some well known names like Terry, Lampard, Cole and Cole was an insult to our public."; "...just waiting to enthrust their skills and movie star personalities on a humble bunch of greenhorns."; "...especially if the simple mistakes which showed up far too frequently in their game, continues into the future..."; "Now, to those who went to see just a football match in isolation, will have seen some basic errors..."; "...if we compare our attacking play of Nurenburg in 2006 as against Sunday..."; "It’s a pity that the key figure Kenwyn Jones was injured early."; "...Skipper Whitley and the teenaged Hyland seemed lost in their positional responsibilities and allow Gerard and Barry the freedom..."; "...Roberts showed that moving into deep field tended to draw his opponents into week defending positions."; "Neither Bridge or Johnson allowed that luxury."; "If you doubt me, ask italy, the country of Cappello’s birth."; "Thank you England for a fine celebration to our 100th Anniversary. When we qualify for South Africa, we shall send you the forst thank you card."
Phew! We thought we would never get to the end.
Well we could cut the writer some slack and suggest that this is the draft version sent to the editor for approval, and he or she just hit 'Post' inadvertently without making any changes.
Hmmmmmmm.
So can we collect the cheque (which should have gone to the Reader's Editor) for pointing out the corrections?
And all those mistakes almost distracted us from this interesting assessment of the game: "The attitudes must change into a more positive mode and the intensity of their effort must turn mediocrity into a higher state of potency."

Here's another comment about the football match.
"I believe three Caribbean countries have leaped into Word Cup Football Glory already. Cuba, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
Cuba and Jamaica made it only once, as far as I can remember.
What makes one think Trinidad & Tobago will make it again? Well I don't see that happening quite frankly.
Those guys are a bunch of jokers that become underwear struck when they reach that level of play.
Ask today's West Indies cricket players they go tell you.
And the system we have here is not nurturing them away from that kind of focus/thinking.
"So if not discipline them into a different approach, let their thoughts continue to defeat them. We like it so.

EXTINGUISHED
Here's a comment for Hema Ramkissoon, from Asha Williams.
"Hema Ramkissoon, the fire officers EXTINGUISHED the fire, NOT "DISTINGUISHED".
You have been making A LOT of mistakes in the news!!! Its painful to listen too. Do you not read the stories before?

BARACK OBAMA ELECTED
Barack Obama has been nominated to lead the Democrats into the US general election. Here's the first comment.
"oooooh, ahhhhhh, the Daily Express cover looks African American sexy today.
"Obama for President - but can he do it without Hillary on the ticket. Can he get those Senior women who are fixed in their thinking to throw their support behind him, can he get enough of them to pull it off in November?

IN APPROPRIATE PLACES
On Monday evening in the 7pm news, Shelly Dass read a story about a little girl who had been assaulted by a man in Chaguanas. However she said the child had been "...touched in appropriate places...". Hmmm. We know what you wanted to say, so next time take your time and read the script carefully.
And tell the person who wrote that script to either choose appropriate footage for the voice over or write it as a copy. There were random shots of people shopping in Chaguanas which had no connection to the story and confused us (and we are betting the rest of your viewers as well).
Then on the scrolling ticker tape for C News, we saw "OWWTU leaders call on T&TEC workers...". As far as we know, it's the Oilfield Workers Trade Union. Not sure what the extra 'W' stands for.
And Odeka Oneil-Seaton looks good with the new haircut. It adds some proportion to her face and upper body. It looks like a more polished version of Shelly's haircut though, but overall it looks good.

SCORE TO SETTLE? 12
This reader clearly did not enjoy the match.
"Predictably, the match was sour. With a bunch of youngsters intermingled with seasoned professionals, the team clearly didn't gel and the right foot didn't know what the left foot was doing.
"But it's passing strange that many of the sport journalists have been as ravenous about the omission of 2006 vets (Sancho, A. John, Birchall, et al) as they have been about the feud between Jack and Hunt. Once Jack Warner is involved in football, there will always be political games played with the sport (often at the expense of the players and the fans, the 2 most important elements of the game) so there's no need to all the journalists to get hard-ons at the thought of a face-off between the new Minister and Mr Warner.
"I reserved tickets but was unable to collect and pay cuz I was out of the country, and when I tried a Trini behind-de-scenes ratch, I was bluntly refused so I watched the match at home like many others. I wonder if the people who did pay $300 and up thought it was money well spent? The quality of the game was poor, to say the least. Our opponents for this game was a third-string English team, with fellas who have never or rarely taken off their bibs. So what you expect?
"There's a saying: "Who pays the piper calls the tune." Would some enterprising journalist find out why the new coach has not even looked at some of the members of the 2006 World Cup team? Is it because of their membership on FPATT or are they just on the wrong side of the man with the deepest pockets in TT football? Hmmmm...".

NEW-LOOK GUARDIAN WEBSITE?? 2
Here's a comment on the Guardian's new website.
"Hey all, just replace the tt with uk in www.guardian.co.tt and tell me about the differences in terms of structure of these two websites
"http://www.guardian.co.uk/
"Genius, just a work of genius to the folks over at the Guardian. What a fantastic idea, I wonder where it came from. Anyway, I applaud the effort to give your site an international flare. Kudos.

Here's a comment from PW on the match.
"I always knew the England team was just coming to win the game fairly against T&T this time around, instead of "Crouching" out a controversial win as they did in Germany back in 2006.
"The T&T players are a bunch of glad boys that are just happy to be playing amongst true celebrities. They do not understand the meaning of Celebrity nor Celebrity Status, they are a bunch of dazzle eyes third world thinking people that focuses more on popularity as we are best known for in these parts, instead of focusing on what it takes to win a game of this nature/caliber.
"Coach Leo Beenhakker was the best thing that happened to them. He taught them how to play a defensive game after realising that they could not dribble a ball to save their life.
"So why did they relinquish this strategy for the glad boy approach of "I can dribble a ball too"; when they know they can't keep the ball when they get it? Stupes.
"Those authentic International players have lived, ate and slept how to dribble a ball and keep it, from since their child hood days - and have done so all the days of their lives. While our half green players have been more focused on other numerous distracting factors that may now have to be abandoned by an upcoming generation of players if we want to get this thing right a few years from now, and play real soccer with real soccer players.
"Enough of the chalk and cheese image already T&T."

MOVING AND SHAKING
Word on the ground is that Vinod Narwani, formerly of CNC 3 is set to make his debut in the TV6 newsroom today.
Well Vinod, best of luck to you. You were actually one of the bright spots in reporting across there. Too bad you didn't stick around longer.
Since you didn't make it into the anchor chair at your former place of employ, maybe Dominic Kallipersad will give you a shot with the 10pm, weekend news or even the midday news.
And Mrs Sant it looks like you have to go on an employment drive similar to what TV6 did recently. Maybe you could try out a few of their 'stars' as well.
